Like most babies this age he shed some tears during his session, but after flashing his handsome smile for a few minutes he drifted off to dreamland and let us take some sleeping shots, which doesn’t happen often after the newborn session.

First was Nora. You probably won’t recognize her from her newborn session – she’s grown so much in the last 3 months!

I also had the pleasure of photographing these beautiful sisters. We started in the studio, but since it was such a gorgeous morning we decided to venture outside for some photos as well.

Amaya is so stunning I could have stared at her all day, but I didn’t because I knew her mom & dad were excited to get some photos of her! At five weeks Amaya has passed the age we typically photograph new babies, and sure enough she wasn’t very interested in sleeping or posing. Since five weeks is still a bit young to expect consistent eye-contact & smiles, most baby photographers know it’s it’s all about patience & waiting for just the right moment to click the shutter to get a sweet expression and those pretty eyes. Patience certainly paid off yesterday, because we got some lovely images of this gorgeous baby girl.

She arrived a few weeks early & spent some time in the NICU after her birth, so she is quite a bit older than the typical newborns I photograph. To be honest I wasn’t really sure what types of images she would let me get. Older babies (yes, 5 weeks is considered older in the world of newborn portraits) aren’t usually as “curly” and they’re certainly not used to being moved & posed while they’re trying to nap. After fighting sleep for a few minutes she drifted off and slept the entire 2 hours I posed & photographed her. She even gave me some smiles, which I always adore.
