Meet Salena (5 1/2 months). Isn’t she gorgeous? She was full of personality, and it was so great to see her eyes light up at her parents as they were helping elicit some smiles.

This handsome little guy came in for a his 1-year session. He was only 8-days last time I photographed him, and now he’s toddling around, dancing to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and keeping his parents on their toes I’m sure.

This beautiful baby girl is this cutie’s cousin, and she came all the way from north Louisiana for her debut photo session. At two weeks she’s a bit older than most newborns I photograph (I know that must sound crazy!), but she did great! And check out her handsome big brothers! Admittedly I was a little nervous about getting a good sibling shot, because my own boys are the same age as her big brothers and I know how difficult it can be to photograph them. These guys made my job easy, though, and this is one of my new favorite sibling photos of all time.

This adorable little guy came by for his debut photo session over the weekend. He was a dream to photograph, and I saw so many little things about him that reminded me of my own babies. It’s amazing how seeing toes curled a certain way, a clenched fist hugged tightly to a cheek, or a quivering lip before a hungry cry can bring back a flood memories of things we thought we’d never forget.

Sunday evening I had the honor of meeting this beautiful family to photograph them before the birth of their 3rd little girl. Unfortunately their sweet baby has been diagnosed with anencephaly and is not expected to survive. I’ve been trying to think of what I can write that will even begin to convey the strength & grace they have as they face such an unimaginable situation, but the words aren’t coming to me so I will leave you with photos and a request to please keep them in your prayers.

Last night I met Emmi and her parents downtown for her 9-month portraits. Shooting downtown is always an adventure since you never quite know what you’re going to find these days – the general commotion of the end of the workday, ongoing construction, film crews. They were troopers and didn’t even balk (or they didn’t show it at least) when I asked them to put their sweet, well-dressed baby girl on the city sidewalk. Like most 9-month-olds Emmi wasn’t very interested in being photographed, but often these are my favorite kinds of sessions because I just love surprising parents with what we’re able to capture in those split seconds between sitting happily, waving frantically at passersby, and the occasional meltdown.

This morning I photographed these gorgeous girls at their lovely home in Baton Rouge. After a long stretch of studio sessions, it was wonderful to get outside and shoot again, and their property was just perfect for outdoor portraits. These two girls were so kind and cooperative during our session – they made my job incredibly easy and fun.

This morning I had yet another beautiful, cooperative baby in the studio. This lovely girl was accompanied by her handsome, helpful big brother and adoring parents. One of my absolute favorite parts of my job is witnessing families grow and getting to be just a tiny part of such a wonderful time.

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful holiday weekend!

Yes, I was a mean mommy and dragged them to the studio after church and the egg hunt. It’s been ages since I’ve photographed my own sweet kiddos and they were way too distracted to get them to cooperate outside. It was well-worth the milkshake bribes!
